CELEBRATING PLURALISM:
Honouring the work of
F. GRAEME CHALMERS
May 30, 2008
The University of British Columbia
Vancouver, Canada

A one-day symposium will honour the rich legacy of F. Graeme Chalmer's scholarship. We look forward to a day of stimulating papers and conversations, set within the natural surroundings of the University of British Columbia. Later, we will celebrate in other ways along the coastline of Vancouver. Presenters and those wishing to celebrate Graeme's career are all invited to attend this memorable event.

If you would like to present a paper at the Celebrating Pluralism Symposium please send a 500 word abstract along with a title and the names of the presenters or authors by September 30, 2007 to:

Dear friends, colleagues and previous students of Graeme Chalmers

We want to welcome many people to the Celebrating Pluralism Symposium, yet we also want Graeme, and those attending, to hear everyone's presentation. We will notify anyone who applied as to the status of his or her proposal by the middle of October. Our timing is important so that you can also consider applying to another conference if you desire. Our symposium is a preconference to the Canadian Society for the Study of Education Congress (Canadian equivalent to AERA) taking place at UBC from May 31-June 3 (see http://www.csse.ca - their proposals are due Nov. 8). This is a unique congress as it is nested within a much larger Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) that brings together 66 conferences at one time (see http://www.fedcan.ca/congress2008). Therefore scholars are encouraged to attend other disciplinary and interdisciplinary conferences between May 31 and June 8. CHSS moves from university campus to university campus across Canada and in 2008 it is at UBC.

We will have registration details and costs available for the Celebrating Pluralism Symposium by January 15, 2008.

With best wishes,

Kit Grauer, Rita L. Irwin, Anna Kindler, Donal O Donoghue
