Call for Principal Editor and three Co-Editors for IMAG.

The International Society for Education through Art is seeking Principal Editors and Editors for the ART Education online VISUAL Journal IMAG


Focus and scope

IMAG is the online VISUAL journal published by InSEA. IMAG provides a visual forum to:

  • Foster international cooperation and understanding,
  • Share experience and promote creative activity in art and education through art
  • Improve practice in education through art
  • Strengthen the position of art in all educational settings including community and non-formal contexts.
  • Discuss arts-based research and artistic research methods in learning contexts

InSEA is seeking a new Editorial Team consisting of a Principal Editor and three Co-Editors for its peer reviewed online visual journal, IMAG. As the current team (Teresa Eça, Glen Coutts, Cathy Smilan, Angela Saldanha and Ana Barbero) complete their term of office, InSEA is seeking new Principal Editors to lead the Editorial Team from 2019. Successful candidates will be responsible for the Journal for a period of three years (2020 to 2022) with an additional year (2019) as Principal Editors-elect during which time the successful applicants will work with the current Principal Editors in advance of becoming Principal Editors.

IMAG has established itself as an innovative and well-respected source of knowledge dissemination in the field of art education. IMAG promotes and shares original views on education through art, while addressing the role of teaching and learning in either formal or informal educational contexts. Applicants for the position of Principal Editor and Co-Editors should be experienced art educators with an interest in a broad range of developments in the field of visual arts education. They must be current members of InSEA, hold an advanced academic degree, have a strong record of academic publishing with experience serving on editorial boards and/or reviewing work for publication. Applicants must be familiar with working electronically, be prepared to work flexibly depending on the workload required across a publication cycle and hold a vision for the future of IMAG that takes into account the changing landscape of academic research and publishing.
