State of the Art 8

Would you like a weekend in Glasgow?
On Saturday 7th November, the annual NSEAD Scottish conference State of the Art 8 will take place at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.
The conference is a practice – led event, which aims to celebrate and share good practice by those working in the broad field of art education.
Three morning keynote sessions will set the tone for the day, Iain Mitchell and Mary White from Aberdeen will report on a fascinating project involving all 147 schools in the county to celebrate the ‘Year of the Homecoming’.  Micha Weir and Richard Scott will talk about a computer animation project, which involved close collaboration between the departments of English and art and design in a Fife secondary school.   The final morning keynote reports on another interdisciplinary project, this time one that brings scientists into schools using art and design methodologies, the project is called Designs for Life
The afternoon sessions entitled Practitioner’s Tales are more ‘hands on’ offering delegates the chance to discuss practice and try some new techniques, these will include sessions on jewellery, 3D modelling and the Early Years and Primary Art (with NSEAD’s Michele Kitto).
I look forward to seeing you in Glasgow in November.  Further information about the conference and a booking form can be found here.
