Dr Kim Snepvangers received the 2018 InSEA Award for Excellence in Research in Education through Art (AEREtA) .
Dr Kim Snepvangers is a UNSW Teaching Fellow, Professional Experience Project (PEP) Coordinator, and Program Director Art Education at UNSW Australia: Art & Design. As the recipient of a 2016 UNSW Strategic Educational Fellowship Grant (SEF#3) titled: New Approaches to the Development of Professional Identity through Independent Critical Reflection her research interweaves creative and professional leadership contexts. Her previous role as Head, School of Art History & Art Education (2013-2005) managed the strategic direction of art & design education and art history & theory which gained a maximum 5 star rating in ERA. Recent leadership roles comprise: Art & Design representative Women in Research Network (WIRN); Convener Arts Education Research Practice Special Interest Group (AERPSIG) in AARE; HDR Supervisor; Visiting Scholar Penn State; Editorial Board Australian Art Education and recipient of two Art & Design Innovation Grants. As Professional Experience Project (PEP) Coordinator Kim’s appointment encompasses a number of new strategic partnerships with key creative industries, museums, galleries and collectives in designing innovative teaching and learning pathways to meet future and current needs of students. She has extensive management and research experience in developing transitional educative spaces between academic, creative and professional practice.
