At InSEA, we believe that art transforms people’s lives.
Gifts in Wills are an important and crucial source of funding, providing lasting support which will help to safeguard InSEA’s ability to enrich more people’s lives now and in the future. Remember InSEA in your will
There are many ways you can make a gift which is both simple and efficient:
Residuary: the amount left over after all other costs, for example, funeral expenses, have been deducted
Pecuniary: a fixed sum of money
Specific: a gift of a particular named item, for example, a painting, building or land
Reversionary: a gift to a loved one for use during his or her lifetime which can then be passed onto a specified charity after this time
Leaving a gift in your will is an effective lasting contribution without any immediate outlay. Legacies left to charities are free from inheritance tax, which means a legacy could result in your tax bill being reduced.
If you have already made a will, you can add an amendment, known as a codicil, which InSEA can provide for you. We do recommend that you consult with your legal advisor when deciding upon making a legacy.
By making a gift to InSEA, you are recognising the work that we do and the difference we make to people’s lives. No gift is too large or too small. Whatever the size, your gift can and will make a difference.

Candidate for Vice-President
I am currently serving my second term (2023–2025) as Vice President of InSEA, where I chair the Research and Praxis Committee. During this term, I initiated a new publication platform for members—Open Voices—which welcomes short papers and media productions for publication on the InSEA website. I also led the development of two new awards: the Advocacy Award for Organizations and the InSEA Fellow Award, both launched for the first time during this term. I have chaired several InSEA awards committees, helping establish a strong international reputation for InSEA's awards. If re-elected for a third term, I will continue strengthening the work of the Research and Praxis Board and InSEA’s global leadership in supporting art education and its research. In addition to my InSEA responsibilities, I serve as Distinguished Professor of Art at the Lamar Dodd School of Art, University of Georgia, USA. Previously, I was Associate Professor and Head of Research in the Department of Art at Aalto University, Finland, where I now hold an Adjunct Professorship in Arts-Based Research. I also served as InSEA World Councilor for Europe (2019–2022) and Vice President in 2022–2023.

creating cohesive future for the arts in Africa, it's essential to establish a vision and mission that harmonizes the frameworks of the African Union (AU), UNESCO, and INSEA, envisioning a vibrant and interconnected African arts ecosystem that empowers individuals and teachers communities through creative expression, preserves and promotes the rich diversity of African cultural heritage, drives innovation and sustainable development, fosters intercultural art teaching dialogue, and is fully integrated into educational systems, contributing to a holistic and relevant education while aligning with the AU Agenda 2063. This mission necessitates facilitating collaboration between the AU, UNESCO, INSEA, and other stakeholders to develop and implement supportive policies, promote arts education integration, strengthen the capacity of African arts teaching and institutions, leverage digital technologies for expanded access, support traditional and contemporary art forms, create intercultural conferences and exchange seminar platforms, advocate for the arts as vital to sustainable development and peacebuilding, building networks between African and global art communities; this approach must consider the AU Agenda 2063's emphasis on cultural identity and innovation, UNESCO's focus on education and sustainable development, and INSEA' s expertise in arts education, with a future focus on digital technologies, social cohesion, and the economic empowerment of world arts educators

In a world increasingly shaped by ideological, racial, cultural, linguistic, and economic divides, we need leadership that fosters unity, amplifies diverse voices, and prepares young people for a complex future. As a native of Jamaica who has personally navigated the legacy of colonialism and has served two terms as North America World Councilor, I have a global perspective shaped by formal education and lived experience in Jamaica, Mexico, and the United States. With over 40 years of experience in teaching, educational leadership, and consulting in more than 40 countries, I have witnessed the transformative power of the arts in education and problem-solving. If elected vice president of InSEA, I will advocate for underrepresented voices and work collaboratively with the president, fellow vice president, and councilors to address pressing issues in art education worldwide. My experience studying in Jamaica and Mexico uniquely positions me to strengthen InSEA’s presence in Latin America while fostering deeper engagement across Africa, Asia, North America, and Europe. By championing inclusivity and expanding InSEA’s global reach, I will help solidify its role as a leading organization dedicated to education through art—empowering communities and advancing a more just and interconnected world.

I fully embrace InSEA’s vision that all learners—regardless of age, nationality, or background—should have access to high-quality visual art education. As a science education researcher and senior expert at TÜBİTAK, I have led and contributed to numerous national and international initiatives that position creativity, cultural understanding, and critical thinking at the center of learning. My involvement in EU and national projects focused on STEAM Education reflects my strong belief in the transformative power of integrating the arts into broader educational frameworks. If elected Vice President, I will work to strengthen InSEA’s advocacy for inclusive, culturally responsive visual art education that connects learners to their identities, communities, and the world. I am especially committed to expanding access in underserved regions, supporting visual and aesthetic literacy, and promoting creative pedagogies that nurture empathy, expression, and democratic participation. Through my research, publications, and policy-level experience, I will contribute to InSEA’s efforts in shaping innovative educational models, fostering intercultural dialogue, and supporting educators globally. I am dedicated to helping ensure that art remains a vital, developmental, and empowering part of education across all contexts.
